Saturday June 27th, 2009 – San Pellegrino and Fuciade
For this weekend we will stay in Moena (Hotel Soldanella) where we have been in the past. By car we reach Passo San Pellegrino. Unfortunately it’s raining. We walk to Fuciade. It’s an easy walk, almost flat on a dirt road. There are some huts and a restaurant. We walk a bit, then we have lunch at the restaurant. While we are inside, it stops raining and we can see some spots of clear sky.
We hope in the sun, but soon it gets cloudy again and rains. We walk around Fuciade and then we walk back to Passo San Pellegrino (stopping a bit when rain becomes heavy). Then we reach our hotel and leave the luggages. The weather is better now, so we walk around Moena and go to Sorte (a near village). The landscape is very nice. We go back to Moena, spend some time around it, and have dinner at the hotel.
Sunday June 28th, 2009 – Vajolet
It’a s wonderful day, sunny and clear. The perfect day for an hike. Today we will go to Rifugio Vajolet (one of my favorite places). We park the car near the shuttle-jeep that takes us to Rifugio Gardeccia (when I was a child, it was possible to go by car). From there we start our hike. It’s pretty easy, it takes more or less 40 minutes from Rifugio Gardeccia to reach Rifugio Preuss and Rifugio Vajolet. The mountains around are super scenic. My parents and my sister decide to stop here. It’s still early, so I decide to go a bit up, and be back for lunch with them.
I continue to Rifugio Re Alberto, set in front of the famous Torri del Vajolet. Sometimes there is a small lake. And this time there was (there was still a bit of snow around). Going up I lost the path, but it wasn’t a big problem. I took a lot of pics there, and I knew I had few time left, but it wasn’t possible to be there and not to go to Rifugio Santner (it’s about 15-20 minutes)… So a bit in a hurry going up, taking a lot of pictures, admiring the landscape, and run down to Rifugio Vajolet for the lunch. After lunch a bit of relax here and at Rifugio Gardeccia. We have no hurry, we won’t go anywhere else, so we have plenty of time. In the evening we are back at the hotel.
Monday June 29th, 2009 – Viel del Pan and Carezza
Today we go to Passo Pordoi, and from there another easy hike to Rifugio Viel del Pan. We are surrounded by wonderful mountains: Sass Pordoi, Cinque Dita, Marmolada and many others. After lunch we go back to the car. We stop then at Passo Costalunga and Lago di Carezza (we walk around it). It’s great but it’s time for us to say goodbye and go back home.
