2017 – Sudtirol: Seiseralm and Col Raiser

Weekend in Sudtirol, one day at Col Raiser, and one day at Seiseralm, walking in a plateau, and relaxing. Weather wasn’t too good, but acceptable.

Friday June 2nd, 2017

We go straight by car till Val Gardena where we take the cable car to Col Raiser. There are some clouds, but also some sun, we hope the weather will get better. We stop at the Refuge Odles for a cake, and then we start to walk. Our idea is to go to Refuge Firenze and then back to the cable car station and going back to the parking by foot.

Refuge Firenze is pretty near, the path goes softly downhill. So after few pictures, we decide to go further around the plateau, to the Malga Pieralongia. This place has a stone with a strange shape at few meters. On the Col Raiser plateau there are few people, so it’s nice to walk (and the sun is partially hidden by clouds, so it’s not hot too). We stop for launch at the refuge (I ate a big piece of speck, typical from Sudtirol, really good).

To get back back to the cable car, we go to a small lake near the Malga, then we pass by the refuge Troier and a small church. When we are almost at the cable car, it starts to rain. Luckily we are almost there, so we reach the cable car. We stop in Selva di Val Gardena, where we stroll in the downtown, and finally we go to our hotel in San Costantino. It’s good, the rooms are spacious, we have a balcony in our room. We decide to have dinner at the hotel, so waiting for it, we go to see the church of San Costantino, on a top of a hill. After dinner we go to Castelrotto and see a bit the town.

Today Seiseralm. We wake up pretty early, we have breakfast and then we go immediately to Seiseralm (you can go there by car only early in the morning, otherwise you have to take a bus). It’s a wonderful sunny day. We start to walk on the right side of the main street, going in direction of Hotel Panorama, with the Scilliar in front of us. It’s a wonderful view. At hotel Panorama, short brake for a cake (another one). The refuges are near each other, so one by one we continue a lot.

We pass by Refuge Almrosen (and few others) till Refuge Molignon, where we have lunch. Here there are a lot of people. Outside the refuge there is a small lake. Then we go to Saltria (on the way we see some marmots). Also in Saltria there are many people, a lot of kids too (there are some animals in the farm and a playground). It starts to rain a bit, so we go to the nearest bus station, and back at the parking. The sun is back, so we stop at another refuge for an ice-cream.

We go back by car and we stop in Ortisei (I was here many years ago, I don’t remember much). It’s crowded, it’s almost happy hour time. Mass in German in a near town and then to the hotel. We have some time left before dinner, so we go to the really near lake of San Costantino, it’s a small lake, very quiet, nobody is around. After dinner, stop at the lake of Fié, and then some relax in Fié.

Today it’s bad weather, dark clouds and some rain. Our trips in Sudtirol is going to end. We go to Passo Costalunga, but we stop briefly in Tires. It’s not raining, we walk till Prati del Latemar, and we see the mountains with a lot of clouds. We head to Moena (I spent here summer holidays for some years), we have lunch. In the afternoon we stop in Cavalese. We should go home now but on the way back, the sun shines, so we make a little detour to go to Pietralba sanctuary.

On the highway we find a lot of cars, there is queue, so it takes a long time before getting home.
