2017 – Madesimo and the missing lakes

Daily trip to Madesimo, changing our plan and not going to lake Emet

I saw some pictures online of a nice lake where I haven’t ever been, so for today we decided to go to Montespluga and from there to lake Emet. It should be a nice and short walk.
We arrived there pretty early, we started to walk along the path, but few meters later we saw there was snow. We didn’t consider it, at home it was so hot and it’s May, so we were really surprised to find snow.

And we didn’t have the right equipment to walk in the snow (trekking shoes were ok, but the snow was melting and in some spots our feet went down 10-15 cm in the snow. So we decided to give up. It was a pity but we will surely go back another time.
Back to the car, we drive till Splugenpass, we just reach it, take some pictures (we can see different mountains/landscape from here) and back. Another stop to Montespluga where we walk a bit along the lake. It’s nice to walk but time runs fast, it’s almost lunch time, so we decide to go to Madesimo. Here we hope to find some places to eat, but almost all of them are closed. We find anyway a nice place.

After lunch we walk in the city center and walk to the near waterfall, “Cascata del Groppera”. It’s just 5 minutes from the pedestrian area, very nice waterfall. And to finish the artificial lake. We would like to walk a bit more, so we head to Motta (just 2 km from Madesimo). Then from here to “Lago Azzurro”. But it seems we are not lucky today with the lakes. Soon we reach it but we find it totally dry, there is no water.
Back to Madesimo and we go till the end of the road, where we walk some more. And then back at home.
Anyway it was a nice day, even if we missed two lakes, but we had a really nice time in a wonderful sunny day.
