2008 – Heidelberg: Herbfest

I always like to go to Heidelberg, it’s a nice place, and we have good flights, so it’s possible to go there on Saturdays.

Saturday September 27th, 2008

Another daily trip. This time our destinations is Heidelberg for the Herbfest (we have already been here in the past). Like all the other times, we land in Hahn and here we rent a car.

On the highway we find a bit of queue. However we reach Heildeberg in the morning and we start to walk in Hauptstrasse, one of the pedestrian streets, full of people and stands.

Along the street we see Providenzkirche and Alte Universitat. There is more and more people, so we leave the street and we reach the Marstall. Back to the main street till Heiliggeistkirche and the near Rathaus. We cannot not to see the Alte Brucke and the Neckar river. But we are hungry now, so at a stand we eat a kind of bread with butter/cheese and at another one a steak. We go on walking.

Then we decide to go up to the castle…After few seconds we decide to use the funicolar. Reached the castle, we walk around (only outside the castle), before stopping for an eating break. We decide not to visit the castle and go back to the airport.

There is no traffic, we are sure to reach the airport on time, so we stop in Worms to see the wonderful cathedral. We haven’t enough time to visit also the city, we decide to spend all our time for the cathedral. After it, we go back to the car, we reach the airport where we have dinner before coming back home. It was a really nice trip, in a wonderful sunny day.
