Friday October 26th, 2007
Around 22.20 we land in Prague in perfect time, wait a few minutes for the man that accompanies us at the apartment that we booked, in the Hebrew district. Then left luggages, we make a tour in the downtown, going in the Old Town Square, Staromeske Namesti, and then to Charles bridge.
We cross the whole bridge, then we return back, ready for a new day in this wonderful city.
Saturday October 27th, 2007
Just wake up, we go out and have breakfast in a bar within walking distance, and then we go to Powder Tower and we see the nearby palace “Obecni Dum”, from there again Staromeske Namesti, where we watch the clock, with its characters, beat the 9am. Then in Wenceslas square, watching the windows of shops, now largely part of international chains.
Quickly back to Charles Bridge, already crowded with tourists. Before crossing, we climb its tower (the stairs seem without end, although the tower is not very high). Sky is cloudy, but not raining. We walk along the bridge and then go up to the castle through Nerudova. At castle, we take the ticket to visit the golden lane and St. George, but then we are hungry… even if there should satisfy … with culture … we accomplish also our stomach… At this point, we visit better the city, St. George, the golden lane (we enter in the little shops and along the trenches that are just above), the tower with instruments of torture and finally Sk. Vita Cathedral.
Since we are already in the upper part of the city we go to the Loreta monastery. It’s coming late, but there is still some light, then we walk in Nerudova and we go in Mala Strana district, crossing the church of the Knights of Malta. From there we reach quickly Kampa island, we walk a bit in the park and then we look at the mill. It is becoming dark, we return to our apartment, through the Klementinum and along a stretch of Pariska. Near the Spanish synagogue, we see a pretty restaurant, crowded and with low prices. Once in the apartment, we rest a bit before leaving again for dinner.
We decide to have dinner in the restaurant we had seen before. After dinner, we still go to Staromeske Namesti, where we stop to eat a slice of cake. Back to Charles Bridge, a walk and return back. We are too tired.
Sunday October 28th, 2007
Even today we wake up soon, we go out for breakfast and then to Wenceslas square. From there we reach Jindrisska Vez, from where we admire the sightseeing, even if there is not yet the sun.
Then again in Staromeske Namesti to go to the Hebrew district, where we visit only Staronova synagoga, then along the river, we return to the Charles Bridge and the island of Kampa to see it with the sun. We go back to the old City Hall (and yes, we passed here sometimes), this time we enter and climb up the tower where we admire the square from high (there is an event to celebrate the anniversary of the republic).
We have our lunch and then we walk in the streets aimlessly around, before returning, at 16, to our apartment and then go to the airport and leave the beautiful Prague.
