Friday October 21st, 2016
After we land we take the care we rented (I will write another post about it), and go to Il-Qrendi to see the entrance of Blue Grotto (a natural arch on the sea). We go in the wrong spot, we walk a bit along the coast, and then by the car we reach the viewpoint for Blue Grotto.
This is just an unplanned stop, our main destination to start our trip were the temples of Hagar-Qim and Mnajdra. They are two megalithic temples on the sea covered with a big sheet to protect them. We stay there till the closing time.
Before going to our hotel we go to Dingli to see the cliffs. At the first attempt we end in a really narrow street and we are forced to stop near a small church. Time to go back and find the right spot, where we can finally see the cliffs. At distance we see it’s raining, while where we are, it’s sunny.
It’s time to take a break to our hotel in Saint Paul’s Bay. Hotel Santana is nice, the rooms are pretty new and spacious. In the evening we go to Mdina for dinner and for some pictures.
Saturday October 22nd, 2016
The main day of our trip, the only one full day. We take the ferry boat to Gozo, there are many people on it, we cannot find a place to sit, and just a small one to take pictures. As we arrive to Gozo, we go immediately to the Azure Window (at that time we didn’t know it would have been the last time we would see it).
It’s a wonderful day, sun, blue water, no clouds, perfect for pictures. We take a lot of pictures there.
We head to Zebbug where we walk along the coast (some people are bathing, it’s really hot) and we see many salt pans.
On the opposite site of Gozo, we stop in Xlendi with beautiful cliffs, we walk around and then we stop or lunch on the seaside. Also here the landscape is beautiful.
In the afternoon we visit Victoria, the main city on Gozo, with the old prison and the Cathedral.
Last stop in Gozo is Ggantija for other megalithic temples.
Back to Malta, we go to Sliema for the dinner. There are a lot o restaurants and almost all of them are full.
Sunday October 23rd, 2017
We leave for the last day the visit of La Valletta, where we spend all the time we have before going to the airport. There we will have the bad surprise at delivering the car.
