Friday January 6th, 2023
Today is a beautiful sunny day, we go by car towards Culmine San Pietro. We park at the beginning of the path that will take us to Piani di Artavaggio. At first we are in the woods and it is a bit cold. Further along the path we find ice and snow, so we put on crampons which allow us to continue without difficulty to our destination. As we continue, the sun raises the temperature, so much so that it almost seems like a spring day. As soon as we arrive, even if it’s not yet noon, we go to the Casari refuge, we queue up for lunch, it’s already full, and there’s a queue for the bar too. Around 12.30 we can sit at the table. At the end of lunch, we go up to the church, we look at the view over the valley, then we go up to the cable car, also here to admire the view. It’s time to leave Piani di Artavaggio. We then return to the former hotel and walk towards the car on the same path. We go down at a good pace. Around 15.30 we are at the car.
