Departure in the morning, with destination Munich. The flight arrives in advance, but due to some problems with the bus that should take us to the airport I lose a little time.
Then I go to subway to reach Marienplatz, the main square dominated by the magnificent Rathaus. The sky is cloudy but no rain. In the evening I have to be in Kufstein, so I just manage to visit the Residenz inside. The part visited is very broad and self-guided very interesting. Very recommended the visit. Then I go back in Marienplatz, with the Altes Rathaus and the Neues Rathaus.
Near I also see the Heiligegeistkirche, Viktualienmarkt and St. Peter. Here I can climb the tower with a splendid view of the nearby Marienplatz. Time passes quickly, so I reach the cathedral, the Frauenkirche, then St. Michael, the Asam Kirche and the near Sendlinger tor. By subway, I reach the station to take the train to Kufstein where I arrive around 18.
I leave the backpack at the hotel and go out to start seeing the city. The center is not very large and rapidly I see the Unterer Stadtplatz with the Rathaus, the nearby church of St. Veit and Romerhofgasse and walk along the river Inn. I have dinner on the terrace with a view on Inn and meeting randomly Petra. Before I finish dinner a storm comes and then, just finished back at the hotel. The rain continues throughout the whole night.
Saturday August 2nd, 2008
It is still raining, but I go out anyway, well-equipped for the rain. Around 9 I visit the fortress. While visiting the rain stops.
Back again in the lower part of the city, and walking again in the pedestrian zone, while the sun shines. At 15 I meet again Petra, and spend a little time with her and her sister Anna. Later I take an ice cream while listening to musicians who play Tyrolean music in the main square.
Hiking a little and rapidly it’s dinner time. I have dinner again in the restaurant where Petra works, but it’s full of customers. When Petra ends to work, we see again.
Sunday August 3rd, 2008
Last day of this short journey. After breakfast with Petra and Anna, little time left for Kufstein, but I have seen the most important things. Around 11am I take the train, I should be in about one hour in Munich, but due to a failure on the tracks, railway staff forces us to get off the train and makes us get on the bus that brings us to a near station.
I arrive in Monaco at 13. Fortunately I’m still in advance for the plane and I can walk through the centre without a precise destination. From the station, I walk in the pedestrian street up to Marienplatz, again near Residenz to Hofgarten. I have the time to stop a bit in Marienplatz. The sun is really hot. Then I return to the subway and back at the airport. In the evening I am at home, just in time for dinner.
