2015 – Expo in the evening

Monday September 21st, 2015 at Expo

Finally tonight we decide to go to visit Expo. We haven’t yet been there. At Expo it’s possible to enter with the evening ticket, valid from 6pm till the closing time (11pm, even if most of pavilions close at 9pm).

More or less at 6.15 we are at the Expo site, it’s not hard to find a car parking at a short distance from the entrance. We enter from the main entrance. There is no queue, and the check at the metal detector is fast. Upon entering we decide to start to visit the less crowded pavilions so we can use at the best the few hours we have.

The first one is Ireland: there are monitors with videos of the landscapes of the country. The next one is Czech Republic: outside there is a fountain with a kind of metalic bird. We walk up the staircase at the first floor, where there are some lights effects (e.g. you walk in a room with light tubes that turn on when you walk near, nice and probably really funny for children. We continue up till the terrace on the roof and we look at the landscape.

We leave this stand to go to the next one, Bahrain: the entire building is white and inside there are typical trees. Then we head to Sudan, inside there are some typical handicraft products (pretty small stand).
Near it there is Belgium: at the entrance they give a Belgian biscuit and inside you can see some guys to prepare chocolate and some innovative crops. We would like to see also South Korea but there is queue and it seems slow, so we decide to skip it.
Vietnam is particular outside, there are some wood structures with trees at the top. Inside there are some handicraft objects.

It’s the time of Lithuania pavilion, inside there are many pictures and videos of the country and outside a sculpture with the shape of a metallic drop. Next to it there is Belarus, in the middle of the pavillon, there is a big light wheel.
Uruguay is really crowded and the time goes past (it’s after 8pm), so it’s time for a short break to eat something (there are many places where you can eat, we choose one with few people).
The time left is few, but we try to see some more pavillons, starting from China, where we have to wait a bit. Outside there are many flowers, inside a great light effect). Also the structure is nice.

The next one is Poland, mainly done with wood. Inside there is a quiet area with trees (it’s nice even if it’s dark), and inside some typical products and a small landscape entirely made of chocolate, it would be nice to bite it.
We think there is no more time to see other pavilions, but we try to enter the United Kingdom one: it’s made like a beehive, with lights (to represent bees) that switch on and off, very particular.
The last one is Hungary, nothing special and pretty small. The pavillons are closed now, so we haven’t much to do, but before going back home, we go to see the show at the “Albero della Vita” (Life tree): it’s a metallic structure with lights and fountains: many visual effects and music: at the beginning a bit boring but at the end it’s very nice.

It’s almost 10pm, so we go back on the main street, the “Decumano” and we stop at Vietnam to see a Pagoda. With this one it ends our first time at Expo. We will go back again for a full day (and maybe also for another evening).
