2005 – Bratislava: East countries

A short weekend in Bratislava with one evening in Vienna (together with many friends). The first time in my life I took a low cost flight.

We should leave from Orio at 3pm., but yesterday there was a meeting between Bush and Putin. So they closed airspace above Bratislava and at the end we managed to take off only at 8pm. We lost half a day and so the only thing that remains to do is to go to dinner in a good, very characteristic restaurant.

Bratislava is not very big to visit, we go immediately to the castle (it is closed after the meeting Bush-Putin, we only see it outside, and then we go to downtown where we walk in the streets, we see St. Martin, Michalska brana, Town Hall Square and the City Hall.

In a few hours we see the most important buildings, even if it is Saturday there is hardly anyone around, and so we decide to go to spend the night in Vienna. From Bratislava to Vienna it takes about an hour by train and it is quite frequent. In Vienna we walk without a clear goal (in a few hours we can not see much), we walk in the streets and of course I eat a slice of Sacher.

In Vienna there’s more life, there are people everywhere until we are forced to take the train (the last), which brings us back to Bratislava. Later, in Bratsilava we go in a pub full of students and we see that, although in the streets there were not many people, the place is crowded.

Our short trip ends today. In the morning we have breakfast in downtown and walk a little on the streets.

Around noon we go back to the airport.
