2006 – Lubeck: We wanted to refresh ourselves

Friday March 17th, 2006

As our habit we leave on friday evening, we rent a car and we go to sleep to Lubeck.

Saturday March 18th, 2006

The cold that we had felt the previous evening wasn’t due to the fact that was evening. It makes cold, but well covered we set off to visit this beautiful city. We visit the more important monuments like the Rathaus, the Marienkirche, the Dom, the hospital of Saint Spirit and to the Niederegger store in order to buy the marzipan.

The center of Lubeck is not so big. After the lunch at Kartofelkeller (made up of potatoes), we go to Schwerin, where there is a beautiful castle on the iced lake. It’s cloudy and there is also a little wind that makes us feel morecold. Unfortunately we are late and we are not able to visit the castle inside.

After having admired it only externally we head to Wismar (it is nearly evening), where we see the main square and we take a little walk in the central streets. We return therefore to Lubeck and we finish our day.

Sunday March 19th, 2006

We wake up early in order to go to Hamburg where we find all the stores closed (it is Sunday) and nearly nobody around in the streets. Also we visit the center and the small lake (iced). We left Hamburg to reach Ratzenburg where there are the church of St. Nikolai and the lake, surely more pleasant in a different period of the year.

We go to Molln, famous for its “joker” and we have lunch in a restaurant managed by Italians. We visited all the cities we wanted, so, waiting for flight that will bring back us to Italy, we go to Travemunde (the beach of Lubeck), where we find a milder temperature and a weak sun.
