2014 – Alto Adige: Resia and Mustair

A short trip in Alto Adige to go back to Lake Resia (we were here 1 year ago), Tubre, Mustair and Merano. It was the last trip with my mom.

We get off early and by car we go straight to Curon Venosta, on Lake Resia, where the bell tower is submerged by the lake. We were here also 1 year ago, at that time the like was iced, and there was snow on the mountains. Today it’s much warmer, but the atmosphere last year was better. Anyway the lake is very nice, and the tower bell in it is wonderful and unique.

The idea would be to add some new places during this trip that we didn’t have time to visit the previous time, but in the next day we will change our plans.
So we go on and we cross the village of Resia and in Tubre we stop to visit the church of St. John with its beautiful frescoes. The church is pretty small, I expected something bigger, inside there are a lot of frescoes, well preserved. In the village of Mustair, we visit the convent of St. John, also with remarkable frescoes.

In the afternoon we arrive in Merano. When we go out from our hotel, it’s already dark, but there are many lights due to the Christmas time. We walk through the streets of the old town and along the river where there are the Christmas market stalls.

Mom isn’t feeling good. Yesterday in Meran she stayed in the hotel and didn’t come to visit Meran. Today she is still not feeling good.
So after breakfast we decide not to continue our trip, and get home earlier, hoping she could feel better.
