2014 – Anterselva: relax and quiet

Weekend in South Tyrol, going to Anterselva, some lakes and refuges. Wonderful mountains, quiet, relax, a great holiday with friends.

In this trip we go by car. Some friends will join us in the evning, but some of us can have the friday off from work, so we get one more day to spend at the mountains. We reach Anterselva and immediately go to the nearby pond. We get lunch in a nearby place, where we can get a nice view over Anterselva.

After lunch, we walk to Malga Schworz, where we can see from above the whole valley. In the late afternoon we go to Lake Anterselva and after dinner we listen to the local band, look at the stars in the sky and waiting for our other friends to come.

After breakfast we go to Prato Piazza, where we leave the car and continue walking along a comfortable trail until we arrive at Vallandro refuge and then continue to the top of the Strudelkopf from which we have a 360° view of the surrounding mountains. It’s a wonderful place and it’s pretty easy to reach.

We’ll have a little late lunch at Prato Piazza, and then go to Lake Braies (some of our friends want to see this lake because there is a TV fiction set here). We still have time, so we go to San Candido, a very nice town and we reach the Austrian border. We go back to our hotel in Anterselva for dinner.

Today we go to Malga Kumplf, just above the town of Anterselva. It’s a nice walk, in the wood. We stop for lunch. In the afternoon, weather changes, some clouds come and when we arrive at Anterselva Lake it’s raining. We walk anyway around the lake and in the evening we get back home.
