Saturday April 4th, 2015
We leave by car early in the morning, and then we take a short break in Courmayeur. There is the sun, but the clouds stop us from seeing the Mont Blanc. Then we go through the tunnel, and continue without stops, passing the border and entering Switzerland till our hotel, just at a short distance from the center of Geneva.
Here it is cloudy, there is wind and it rains a bit. We begin the city visit from the lakefront with the floral clock and then the water jet (it’s not good to take pictures now, with clouds behind). Then we go to the cathedral and walk through the streets of the old town, passing through the Hotel de Ville and the old arsenal.
We descend from the hill (first by St. Germain) to reach the Parc des Bastions and the Place de Neuve with its palaces. Inside the park we see the University and the Monument de la Reformation. We go to the small island at the center of the river and at Batiment des Forces Motrices.
Later, we take back the car and go to Carouge, suburb of Geneva. Then we go back to our hotel and for dinner we go to a near restaurant.
After dinner we return to the center to take photos to the illuminated city, there is cold wind. Switzerland is always a bit expensive for us.
Sunday, April 5th, 2015
Before leaving Geneva, we go to the UN neighborhood and see the various palaces. We continue our journey and reach Lausanne. From the church of St. Francois we continue towards the cathedral and the castle St. Maire and from here we admire the panorama of the city. Then we descend on the lower part and walk down to the lake.
Our next stop is Neuchatel, here we also see the castle and the cathedral. We go down to the lakeshore and meet some girls offering coffee and chocolates to the people.
In the evening we should arrive in Bern, we still have some time, so we go to Biel, where we walk a bit in the center. As we walk it begins to snow. Back to the car we reach our hotel in Bern. Now it’s evening, so we start taking some night-time photos. After dinner we take a short walk while we will go to visit the city the next day.
Monday, April 6th, 2015
Today the sun is shining, we start our journey from the Bundesplatz with the magnificent Bundeshauser building, we continue to Munster, from where we can enjoy a panorama of the city and continue to Barengraben where we can see some bears.
We return to our hotel by some other streets in the center and end the city tour. To return home, we decide to take an alternative route.
We go to Thun, where we stop a little, here we go to the church and to the castle. Then we continue to Interlaken admiring the landscape between lakes and snowy mountains. We take back the car and in the evening we are back home.
