2016 – London: A tea with the queen

4 days in London, spending half a day in Grenwich, discovering some museums (many of them are free) and going some times to British Museum.

Sunday May 1st, 2016

We land at Stansed and take the shuttle that takes us to London. When we arrive at the hotel, we leave the luggages (too early to get the room) and walk to the Royal Opera House and head to Covent Garden. We continue to Trafalgar Square and the National Library and watch the change of the guard in front of the Horse Guards.

We continue down to Westminster, taking photos of the most important monuments including the London Eye, Westminster Palace and Westminster Abbey. It’s Sunday and there is Mass, so we go to Westminster to listen to it. After completing the function, we see also the cloisters annexed to the church. We reach Buckingham Palace and cross St. James Park to return to Picadilly Circus. Then we cross the Soho district and arrive at the British Museum (first visit of this trip, we will return here in the next few days). In the evening, we take photos of the lit city in the Westminster area.

Today is somewhat cloudy, we go to Kensington and walk through the gardens. From here we go to the Albert Memorial and the Royal Albert Hall. We go inside the Victoria and Albert Museum at a short distance. Then we go into the Harrods department where we do some shopping.

Crossing Hyde Park, we reach the National Gallery and visit it. We only see from outside the Tower of London, the Tower Bridge and the City Hall area. Just a little further lies Hay’s Ln and the ship HMS Belfast. In the evening photos in Westminster area.

First of all we go to Greenwich and visit Cutty Sark, Old Royal Naval College and the Observatory. It’s beautiful. In the afternoon we return to London and visit the St. Paul cathedral and climb up to the top of the dome to admire the panorama. We also go up the building in front of it to see St. Paul closely. We cross the Millenium Bridge and enter the Tate Modern, here too for the landscape. In the evening photo at the Tower of London and the Tower Bridge.

Wednesday May 4th, 2016

For the last day, we go to the Court of Justice and enter the The Temple area, walk along the Thames, go back to the House Guards, Hyde Park, and return to the Bristih Museum where we continue our visit. We go back to our hotel, take our suitcases and go to the airport.
