2009 – Weekend in Stockholm

Short weekend in Stockholm with many friends (we are 6 this time), visiting many places, including Vasa museum and Skansen.

Like always we arrive in Stockholm late and go to the hotel. They forgot to prepare one bed in our room, so we have to wait a little bit before going to sleep. It’s after 1am, we are pretty tired. Since it’s Saturday all the pubs are full of people, but now they are closing.

Our hotel is located in Sodermalm and firstly we go to Gamla Stan, the central island on which stands the Tynskakyrkan, the Storkyrkan and Kungliga Slottet.

After walking through the center, we reach the ferry departure and choose one of the many boat tours around Stockholm. The tour is nice. The sky is cloudy, but anyway it’s good to see Stockholm from the water, at least for one time (I didn’t do it in my previous trip). After, we visit the Vaasa museum, a must see. We cross the Gruna Lund, the amusement park and go to Skansen, the park museum with wooden houses and animals.

It’s raining, there’s a lot of people, and probably due to the weather, we are lucky to see all the animals out of their dens. We can see bears, wolves and many others. We return then to Gamla Stan for dinner.

It’s the last day of this short trip. We go to the island of Riddarholmen, with the Riddarholmskyrkan, the church where they were buried kings and queens. From there we get to the City Hall and we lie at the sun.

Then we walk in the pedestrian streets full of shops and people, we pass from Konserthuset and after lunch we take the shuttle bus that takes us back to the airport.
